The Difference Between each certificate
When you buy a diamond and you see its comes with certificate that does not mean that its 100% what they say it is, there is a different kinds of certificates and we will review most of them in this Guide.
THE GIA CERTIFICATE:
The most valuable one, this certificate is the harsh standard one, the diamonds are strictly examine, when you receive this certificate with a diamond you know that this is 100% what it says, no games, no tricks, this GIA report is the best there is in the market today, this is the reason the diamonds with GIA report are often more expensive, please view a sample certificate below:

THE E.G.L Certificate:
The second one similar to the GIA with one difference, they are less harsh with diamond examination, which means for example if a diamond comes to their lab and they test it for clarity and find it VS2 most likely GIA will give it SI1, they have a tendency to raise a bit the diamond quality, a lot of diamond dealers will tell you that they give you a E.G.L certificate with the diamond, you need to ask them a simple question, can you tell me what it will pass with GIA??
A sample of the certificate is below:

The I.G.I report
Same thing as E.G.L, less strict, same drill, what ever gets here VS2 will get on E.G.L SI1 and on GIA SI2, the most common thing is to get the I.G.I certificate because of the price, similar labs has risen and they call by IGS, and other different names, the fact is simple, it doesnt mean that the diamond is not good, its only means that the labs are more strict in every different kind of lab
Below is a sample of the IGI Certificate:

To conclude, if you really want to know the value of your diamond, you can make it easier for your self if you get one of those 3 certificates, buying a diamond without a certificate is often confused like a great bargain which the fact is that you spend to much money on it, GIA is the most strict one, after wards you receive the E.G.L and the IGI, if the seller says that the diamond is color D and clarity VVS1 in EGL or IGI try to ask him what this diamond gets in GIA and wait for the answer almost every diamond that goes to the GIA from the others fail to get the same results exactly with minor exceptions, but then again, all the certificates are priced different, so make sure you know the price before asking the certificate, sometime its worth to pay a few extra dollars and to know what you are getting for your money
